History of the Driftwood
The Driftwood Cafe started in the early 60's as a cafe adjoined to the Tahoe Driftwood Lodge. The cafe has always been a Lake Tahoe favorite for visitors and locals alike. Current owners Bud and Michelle Hillman purchased the cafe in 1999. In the fall of 2006 a redevelopment project forced the demolition of the original building. The cafe's new location in the Heavenly village reopened in February 2007.Meet the Owners
What do people say about the Driftwood?
This was my first visit. I was pleasantly surprised with this great breakfast spot. My husband and I both ordered the American Fare..w/ Italian sausage.. It was delicious.
This little cafe was perfect! Great location, right in the Heavenly Village center, the waitress was very friendly and helping in giving us advice what local beaches to go to.
Waitress extremely friendly without being overwhelming….The Carolina Connection is outstanding like a country Egg Benedict …perfectly poached egg over a potato pancake with crispy bacon over it and smothered with sausage gravy….Huevos a la Driftwood excellent for those who liked Mexican style breakfast.
I loved their mashed potato pancakes so much that I would eat at the Driftwood every morning I was in Tahoe and withstand the long waits. I may even dream about their mashed potato pancakes.
The food is fantastic, tasty and not pricey. Order their tuna melt or Huevos el Driftwood… Sooo good! Oh and their OJ makes it all that much better.
